Training/Credentialing
 
All coaches must be current on the following training/credentialing items before coaching for us
 
1) Have a current US Lacrosse ADULT-level membership ($55):
  • Must be good through a month after the last day of the season you're coaching
    • Click here to check the expiration date of your membership
    • Click here to purchase or renew your membership
  • You will need your US Lacrosse number to complete the following steps
 
2) Register with us as a coach and pass a background check (free):
  • Register in our 2020 Coaches Database:
    • Click here to begin
    • You will be prompted to login to your fclax.com account:
      • If you don’t have an account, you will need to create one
    • Once logged in, you will need to click on the green “Register” button to the left of your name
    • On the registration page make sure you include your mailing address, email address, cell #, and US  Lacrosse membership number:
      • Your US Lacrosse membership must be good through a month after the last day of the season you're coaching
  • Pass a background check:
    • You will be redirected to NCSI to initiate a background check if you don't have a current one on file with us
    • At the very end of the background check process, you must click the maroon-colored “Continue” button at the bottom of the page to finish your registration in our coaches database:
      • This will take you back to our website so that you can sign off on our Participation Waiver and Code of Conduct (and also indicate your shirt and hoodie size)
 
3) Complete the online SafeSport training (free):
  • US Lacrosse will prompt you to take this training when you renew your US Lacrosse membership
  • This is a 1-time requirement that takes about 90 minutes to complete
  • Directions:
    • Login to your US Lacrosse membership account
    • Click on "SafeSport Training" (under "Quick Links" on right side of page)
    • Click on "Start your SafeSport training":
      • If you don't immediately receive an activation/confirmation email after you create your SafeSport account, send an “I didn’t receive my account activation email” help request to 
 
4) Current concussion training certificate (free):
  • Certificate must be < 12 months old
  • Email your certificate of completion to 
  • If you need to take the training, take the NFHS online concussion class here (takes 30 minutes)

5) US Lacrosse level 1 online coaching classes (free):
  • Description:
    • "Level 1 is designed to introduce coaches to the responsibilities and philosophies of coaching and how to provide a safe and athlete-centered environment that emphasizes positive growth and sportsmanship. The Level 1 curriculum provides the tools to teach lacrosse effectively to players of all ages. This baseline training is relevant for all lacrosse coaches, regardless of experience."

    • Click on "Level 1 | Fundamentals of Coaching Boy's Lacrosse" and take the classes
 
6) US Lacrosse level 2 online coaching classes (free):
  • Description:
    • "Level 2 is tactically and practically focused. Coaches will receive detailed instruction on building the tactical elements of their team based on overarching principles for offense, defense and transition. The Level 2 curriculum is geared toward coaching players who have an understanding of the basic skills and objectives of the game. Coaches will also learn how practice planning fits into overall tactical objectives for their season."
